About Purviance-Knittel-Green-Stevens-Wauhob Families
Most of the information listed on this site came from a book written and researched by Stuart Hoyle Purvines.
My grandfather was X.X. Purviance and he lived in Avant, OK. That is where my dad X. Arnold Purviance was raised. My dad moved to Mooreland, OK sometime in the late 1930's and that is where he met my mother, Mary Knittel. They were married in 1940 and lived most of their married life there. All of us kids were raised in Mooreland. I remember dad always telling us that when we got his name that it was clean--and we had all better keep it that way to pass on to our children. He also said that if we told someone we would do something that we had better do it, if people could not trust our word then they would never trust us. Powerful words to live by dad! Thanks for instilling in us the morals to live our lives by.

Dad was the game warden for Woodward Co. and alot of the surroundng area for 32 years. He is the person that you should have thanked if you like to hunt wild turkey in the state of Oklahoma. Growing up I remember dad trapping wild turkey and moving them to other areas to repopulate the state. He was honored for his work by the state of Oklahoma along with another Ranger, R.D. Gray. There have been stories published about him and his work. When he started the trapping of wild turkey he said he wanted to be able to hunt with his son and he was blessed with being able to hunt with his 3 grandsons also.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
